Resident Security Analyst is a technical position supporting NIKSUN’s customers in maximizing the value and use of their NIKSUN appliances. Taking on the role of a security analyst with a dedicated assignment to one or more of NIKSUN’s key customers is a main aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Security (e.g., SIEM) Monitoring
    1. Manage and configure security monitoring tools
    2. Review alerts and determine relevancy and urgency
    3. Run vulnerability scans and review vulnerability assessment reports
    4. Create trouble tickets for alerts that signal an incident; escalate to Tier 2 for review and/or incident response
  • Actively monitor availability of all NIKSUN systems, including:
    1. All systems available and reachable
    2. All interfaces being recorded and monitored
    3. All threshold monitors and alarms operating properly
    4. Interfaces to SMTP systems and ArcSight, etc.
  • Act as a technical resource to the customer in support of use of NIKSUN systems
  • Maintain strong communications with client to manage expectations, ensure client satisfaction
  • Provide support and "how-to" assistance for users on NIKSUN system functionality and usage
  • Provide support for system administration as required by customer
  • Provide support to customer as needed for system upgrades and maintenance activity

Required Qualifications:
  • Analytical ability to quickly identify problems and arrive at practical solutions
  • Knowledge of Unix (Linux, BSD, etc.) and system administration, including scripting and programming knowledge
  • Fluent in English; excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 2-5 years Networking and Security focused background; knowledge of both Enterprise and Service Provider Networks preferred
  • Knowledge of network engineering, operations, security, and design
  • Knowledge of Network technologies, topologies (Ethernet) and protocols (TCP/IP); and Wide Area Networking

Desired Qualifications:
  • Sysadmin skills (Linux/Mac/Windows)
  • Security skills (CISSP, CEH, CISSP, etc.), or good foundation in network and information security technology
  • Programming skills (Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP, etc.)
  • 3 years of experience in Information Security Strategy and Governance, Privacy and Security Assessment and Compliance and Cyber Security
  • Broad understanding of Information Security trends, services and disciplines and experience applying them to dynamic environments.
  • Able to complete an external vulnerability assessment independently
  • Working knowledge of network security tools, network analyzers, network management software
  • Familiarity with Financial or Carrier market security requirements

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education; concentration in IT/CS/ EE or related field.

Travel Requirements:
  • Required to travel to various locations (domestic or international) to participate in extended customer-based projects.
